Don't know much about...

Sarah Palin on Palestine IT IS growing disturbingly clear that if Sam Cooke had sung about Sarah Palin, that song would have lasted twelve days. Jeffrey Goldberg flags the purest example I've ever seen of the talking point in action. Katie Couric asked Sarah Palin, "What happens if the goal of democracy doesn't produce the desired outcome? In Gaza, the US pushed hard for elections and Hamas won."And...

Don't Know Much About History...

Sam Cooke forgive me, but McCain certainly doesn't know anything about economics. In fact, he's a total ignoramus, even by Keynesian standards. So he suspends his campaign to help gin up panic over not giving taxpayer money to billionaires, and...

gary brooks - lost in the shuffle (2002)

A true Renaissance man of the blues, Gary Brooks is a whiskey-throated vocalist, versatile keyboardist and showman who can handle everything from cocktail lounge shows to stadium concerts. Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bob Seeger, Otis Redding, Joe Cocker, B.B. KIng, Sam Cooke, Allman Bros.- you name the act - Gary probably covers some of their tunes. He's a frequent host of the Albany,...

BACK AGAIN !!!!!

People ! I’m back ! Hope everyone’s ok...well let me see, let’s start with dynamite shall we. Sam Cooke Live at the Harlem Square Club ! Yeah ! Sam Cooke is one of my secret hero, I bet he’s one of yours too ! Frankly, most of Sam Cooke's pop hits were sugary, blanched affairs (don’t get me wrong, I love the tracks that way). But this live album was the real deal, giving us the church-reared R&B singer...

'It's Been A Long Time Coming'

A CHANGE IS GONNA COME By Sam Cooke I was born by the river in a little tent And just like that river I've been running ever since It's been a long time coming But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will It's been too hard living, but I'm afraid to die Cos I don't know what's out there beyond the sky It's been a long, a long time coming But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will And then...

Sam Cooke is a golden girl

England is pretty fired up about doing so well in the Olympics. They are also very excited about getting to host the next Summer Games. So excited in fact, that they are now painting their boobie girls up with gold paint. Case in point... Sam Cooke... Does ZOO deliver to the States? Can I get a comp subscription? For 'research purposes' of course.

Obama's Solid, But Uninspring Speech

"There've been times that I thought I couldn't last for long/But now I think I'm able to carry on/It's been a long time coming/But I know a change is gonna come." Sam Cooke, the great R&B singer, wrote those words in 1963 following a visit to a civil rights event in what was then Jim Crow North Carolina. Thursday evening, an era and more than a thousand miles away, Barack Obama echoed Cooke. "America,...

Let's look at the new Obama ad.

Nicely done. I'm glad to see the return of the light touch. The source material is the great old Sam Cooke song "What a Wonderful World," and you can hear it on this video, which, like the new ad, has a political theme: blog advertising blog advertising

John McCain "Don't know much" about the economy

Obama's newest ad: It's okay, but I agree with Josh Orton : It uses the infectious riff from Sam Cooke's classic " Wonderful World, " but is it too cute? McCain's ignorance of economics is dangerous - why give the impression that the problem is benign? And why not use McCain's quote about the economy's supposed "strength?" Maybe this will catch on. The song sure gets stuck in your head.
