When Mojo Nixon and his partner in silliness, Skip Roper, released Bo-Day-Shus!!! in 1987, it opened a Pandora's Box of attention for the charismatic funnyman. The song "Elvis Is Everywhere" found itself on television and radio programs all over the United States. As did its author, who became a part-time VJ on MTV on the heels of its success. "Elvis Is Everywhere plays out as you'd expect: Nixon rants...

Before a million YouTube kids perfected the art of "random pictures used in lieu of a real music video," Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper had it down pat.

When it comes down to it, it’s true - Elvis IS Everywhere. Had a chance to hear Mojo Nixon hosting his radio show on Sirius Outlaw Country, and he played this tune of his from 20 years ago. So don’t get mad at Mojo when he calls Michael J. Fox the “Anti-Elvis” - it was 1988. [...]

I never spoke with David Sirota about having a music soundtrack for his awesome new book, The Uprising , but if I had I would have recommended he get Mojo Nixon to write the songs and record them for him. If any musician is part of the Uprising, it's Mojo-- and if you don't know why, you will after you watch the little clip I just threw together for a cool little ditty he did called "I Hate Banks"...

WOXY posts their modern rock 500 which, if anything, is a reminder that it's been way too long since we heard some Mojo Nixon. Or used the phrase "modern rock," for that matter.

Over Memorial Day weekend Woxy counted down the 2008 edition of their Modern Rock 500. (That's the first time I've written "Modern Rock" since the early '90s.) The songs don't have to be from 2008, but there are newer tracks that made it on there, as well as some that are not new ... like Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper's "Elvis Is Everywhere." Woxy's The Futurist blog has the list posted in its entirety,...
