2009 Catch-up - Manson on a high

○○○○● WITH a Classic Collection album under his belt, as well as coming highly recommended on the Facebook page, Marilyn Manson 's May release The High End Of Low demands a shot at an Album Of The Year slot. And following some toe-curling diversions into synthpop and emo, The High End Of Low sees Manson put his head down to produce a triumphant rock album in the vein of...

Season of Witch trailer

Here's the trailer for the upcoming Nic Cage flick SEASON OF THE WITCH. The verdict? Um, it's got Christopher Lee and Ron Perlman in it... Honestly, it reminds me of the B movies I used to see on the shelf at Blockbuster. This just does nothing for me, and even though they used "Long Hard Road Out of Hell" by Marilyn Manson in the trailer, it still doesn't work. Maybe I'm just judging it...

Burn After Watching

Every now and then, we as writers come across something that nothing quite prepares us for. Take this nausea-inducing kiddie baseball video The fine folks at Deadspin where I found this video suggest checking your water supply for drugs after watching. I would also add that perhaps burning your hard drive to completely cleanse it from this monstrosity wouldn't be a bad idea as well. Speaking of drugs...

Her Timing Is Quite Unusual

Kristen Stewart's Chin is going to haunt my dreams tonight. I just hope and pray that Chris Weitz has directed New Moon with more flattering camera angles than stoner betch Catherine Hardwicke. I... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

New Fan Death Video - "Cannibal"

Fan Death don't skimp on the video treatments: The clip for " Reuinited " featured a number of roadside cameos (Axl Rose, Marilyn Manson, Björk, others) via excellently unconvincing, often creepy lookalikes. This time, taking a turn into the white trash, we find an overweight dude in sweats and wife beater (and fairly hip hair) cuing up a Fan Death aerobics-style VHS video, seemingly...

Talking Shit About Radiohead Will Get You Headlines... The 'Backlash' Examined...

Flavorwire : Revisionist rock criticism is a bona fide trend this year, with Slate’s Jonah Weiner vindicating the likes of Creed and Limp Bizkit, and Vulture defending the legacy of Third Eye Blind. Now that everything bad is good again, critics are getting to work dismantling the houses they built. Enter Spin’s new feature: “16 Rock Myths Debunked.” The magazine takes apart...

Dita Von Teese Still Emotional Over Marilyn Manson

During a recent interview, Dita Von Teese became emotional when asked about her divorce from rocker Marilyn Manson, who left her for actress Evan Rachel Wood in 2007. Dita stated, “I think I’ve become a little bit more careful in my selection now. I look for people that keep me calm and bring happiness and joy [...]

Goth Music: The Early Years

OK--students in my cultural studies course had a bit of a crisis because half of their presentation group dropped out. They are doing a presentation on the Goth subculture and the two members that dropped out were covering the music. So I offered to help out with an introduction to the roots of the Goth sound (as a non-expert)... here is what I came up with, anyone want to suggest additions? 1970s:...

Radiohead: Spin Calls Radiohead Overrated

The December issue of Spin sets out to debunk the 33 "rock myths" that plague our culture, the biggest among them apparently being that Radiohead is good. The article (part of which is available for your perusal online ) posits that this century's golden group has degenerated into "an exceptionally well-dressed jam band. That you can't even dance to." Other fallacies tackled by...

They're building...vampire

I freely admit I forgot about Nick Cave. And Geoff Tate, in case the title threw anybody off. ---------- New Moon hits theaters this week, and even though the trailers alone have us ready to put it on our "Worst of 2009" lists ("Jake! NOOOO!"), there's no denying the movie is going to make more money than an underaged prostitute at a Promise Keeper convention. Midnight screenings...

Marilyn Manson Minus Make Up

No wonder Marilyn Manson was trying to cover up our cameras because we spotted him without the cover of make-up in Berlin this morning.

Dita Von Teese - French Lesson Revelation!

Dita Von Teese is learning French. The burlesque dancer is taking lessons in the language so she can converse with her boyfriend, French aristocrat Count Louis-Marie de Castelbajac, in his native tongue. She wrote on her Twitter page: "Why oh why didn't I pay more attention in high school French?? Yes, now it really DOES seem like 20 years ago." Dita's love of all things from France has extended...
