In this article we will discuss some themes related to different types of constructions used to produce solar power. We will begin from the grid-tied systems. A utility-interactive solar power system makes electricity, which is put directly to the grid. The word grid-tied means, that the system is tied, verbatim, to the grid. This system will accumulate the energy even when you are absent, when you...

We all love a sandwich, but how often does your sandwich light up from power it has collected itself? If you’re chowing down on a prototype from the Florida Energy Systems Consortium then it might just do that (though probably not tasting particularly good in the process): they’re working on the idea of layered OLED and solar-cell panels , which would capture sunlight during the day and...

They understand little about Remembrance Day..... Although we often think of those outside our borders as the enemy -- the insurgents in Afghanistan who plant IED’s in the hopes of killing our soldiers, or the foreign jihadis who fight a religious war against the West -- some of the most effective enemies exist right here within our borders. These people refer to themselves as anti-war activists,...

It's been a while since I've built an audio kit (other than replacing the output transformer on and generally neatening up the wiring of my Assemblage ST-40 ), primarily because I've got more amps and preamps than you can shake a stick at. But I ran across one the other week I just couldn't resist: a battery-powered preamp. I've long wanted to try battery power. Although most of you are probably shaking...

Robert Waldmann I am eager to learn from this blog again. A problem with solar and wind generation of electricity is the sun isn't always shining and the wind isn't always blowing and it is costly to store energy. I don't see why energy can't be stored using hydroelectric dams. They store huge amounts of energy in lakes. So what's the problem. More thoughts after the jump. OK problem number one is...
