Cafe Patachou will have to wait for a decision

A controversial proposal to add outdoor seating as part of the expansion of a popular Meridian-Kessler restaurant was delayed Tuesday at the request of a neighborhood group.

Mobilize for Patachou

Hey, folks, here's something all of us as food lovers should be able to rally behind. Cafe Patachou will be moving shortly from their current location at 49th and Penn to the renovated Hamaker Pharmacy space on the corner -- just a few doors down. Owner Martha Hoover also plans to open Napolese, a pizzeria in the former Landrigan real estate space facing 49th. Apparently some residents in the neighborhood...

Mmmmm...

Breakfast with Shootin' Buddy at Cafe Patachou . I had the Overachiever omelette (bacon, cheddar, sour cream, and horseradish) again. I'm so predictable. Now to email; I'm swearing a mighty oath to dig out from under a week-long backlog.

Time will tell on value of remake at 49th and Penn

Neighborhood leaders across Central Indiana would do just about anything to replicate the retail vibrancy found at 49th and Pennsylvania streets.

An embarrassment of riches...

Hungry for breakfast in my neighborhood? Just in case you can't get a seat at Cafe Patachou or Petite Chou, Zest, or Taste, Mama Carolla's (zomgbestitalianinindy!) is opening a new brunch joint right next door to their main restaurant called Good Morning Mama's . Obviously the fact that there are four gourmet breakfast joints in a 1 mile radius with lines out the door every Saturday and Sunday morning...

Looks better close up

Fabulous day with my friend Jason. *SAD* French Pharmacy is truly done with clothes. a teeny rack on the back and no sale signs *HAPPY* Patachou goat cheese crepes. Need I say more? Castleton TJ Maxx is stepping it up with some so called runway designers. Delighted to see some Milly, Vince, Joe's Jeans, one very ugly, even for Missoni, jacket, *gasp* Richard Rodriguez dress and a few others I just...

A New Frontier

When I was a child, I really wanted my mother to bake for me. I had it in my mind that cookie = love, that mothers bake. My own mother, liberated creature of the sixties, did not agree. She believed that's what God created upscale bakeries for. Every school event requiring a muffin - she went to The Sweet Gallery or Patachou . Not so secretly, I always felt deprived. I mean, that's what moms do. They...

Small Boxes at Summerhill

This week's grand opening of the first phase of the Shops of Summerhill wielded a small, but spirited, blow against the encroachment of big-box stores in urban Toronto. Previously known by locals for the past thirty-some years as "The Five Thieves," the European-style shops (a butcher, a baker, a fishmonger, a greengrocer, a florist, and a café) have been undergoing a painstaking...

A Very Fine BlogDay!

The day dawned bright and early, with Shootin' Buddy and Turk Turon calling at Roseholme. A deee-lightful breakfast at LePeep (hey, we did Cafe Patachou the other day, but 'Peepers is close to the range) (Tam: "There is nothing wrong with LePeep." Me: "Did I say there was? It's a fine place." Which it is. I had French Toast and bacon. Yum!) and we were off. A bit of chill but nothing...
