Todd Edwards' Treehouse Mix

#1 Todd Edwards fan and Stranger freelancer/columnist Michaelangelo Matos suggests that you listen to Edwards' latest mix for the Treehouse party at Littlefield in Brooklyn, New York. Now that I'm halfway through the thing, I also encourage you to check it out. Treehouse is a euphoric roller-coaster ride of rhythmically inventive house and garage, animated by Edwards' trademark vocal/micro-editing...

JOY ORBISON - Hyph Mngo

JOY ORBISON Hyph Mngo Hot Flush DUBSTEP / GRIME / FUNKY 12" Where to start with this incredible record? Justifiably, more has been written about this 12" than practically any other bit of vinyl in the dubstep/post-garage arena this year, with writers at Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, Fact Magazine and any other publication of note queuing up to drape compliments over it's shiny chassis. We're...

DOWNLOAD: Boris - Buzz In (Optimo Remix)

To call Japan's Boris "legendary" would be gratuitous, but considering I just checked and, yes, they've released fourteen albums of eminently rapturous guitar music, they deserve a classification more complimentary than "long-running". Scion , continuing to do whatever they can to make us forget they actually make cars for a living, tapped the band for their next remix series,...

FACT: The Essential Todd (The God) Edwards....

If I were looking for one track that summed up what a remix should be, then I’d be hard pushed to find something better that this, the Sunshine Bros version of Somore’s ‘I Refuse’. It also sums up the Todd Edwards sound: the re-sampling and editing of vocals over heavily swung 4/4 rhythms with heavy snares. A sound so recognisable that you can pretty much walk in to any second...

What's 'family' in Italian? Festa

She hunkered down over her plate of spaghetti and eyed her opponent warily, waiting for the signal to begin their duel. As dramatic music blared through the loudspeakers, the two little girls eagerly stuffed fistfuls of spaghetti into their mouths, their faces and hands covered in thick sauce.

Jackmaster in the mix for Lower End Spasm

Blackdown writes about a new wave of DJs in his Pitchfork Column : a small but innovative cluster of producer/DJs, from Ben UFO to Oneman, Brackles to Braiden, Alex Bok Bok to Grievous Angel, Shortstuff, Martin Kemp and Joy Orbison... I move to add Jackmaster to that list - one of my favourite DJs and the curator of both the influential Wireblock and Dress 2 Sweat labels. Along with the Numbers and...
