No wonder Marvel left all other American comics publishers in the dust. This coming February, Marvel Entertainment will honor one of those gentlemen by releasing The Invincible Gene Colan , a visual tribute and biography of one of the most...

Ok, so I forgot Steve Ditko's birthday yesterday. Would'ja believe I was being deliberately obtuse and mysterious, in keeping with Shadowy Steve himself? No, huh? Well, anyway, as we know, after leaving Spidey, Dichotomous Ditko spent a lot of The Bronze Age producing work that got steadily stranger & stranger, from The Hawk & The Dove and The Creeper to Mr. A . This strip, from the 4th issue...

While none of the offerings are currently the newest material in their catalog, Marvel Comics is partnering with some app developers for the iPhone to bring comics to the small screen. If the sampling is any indication of how well comics can be done on a 3.5" screen, I can hardly wait for Apple to bust out the 10.7" tablet. At this stage, at least three apps sell select titles from Marvel's...

But, of course, his most famous and important character is your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man..... These two issues of Amazing...

Steve Ditko turns 82 today . I don't mean to understate Jack Kirby's addition to the world of comics, but Ditko did more create the modern comic book than just about everybody. His Spider-Man was an insecure teenager who overcame his own failings to become a hero. His Doctor Strange was the kind of weird strip that seemed to be less about good fighting evil and more about the sheer glorious weirdness...
