I think that this new format is going to work out, but I still feel a little daunted by the task as I had become very comfortable with the old format. The pattern was a commentary, list most anticipated, then the rest and an exit paragraph or remark. The conversational style that I’m looking for is more free spirited and forces me to abandon that type of rigid structure, but I hope it also forces...

I'm watching Superman/Batman: Public Enemies , and while it isn't bad, I enjoyed reading the graphic novel a lot more. Is DC missing a bet by just doing animated versions of previous (albeit very good) storylines? For me, I think so, but I suppose time will tell. Here's where DC definitely missed a bet, circa 1960: Oh, Johnny DC. Never did a company spend so little time putting together a mascot than...

Hopscotch Chainsaw was that kind of man. If there was ever a top-ten list of the best of that kind of man, then Chainsaw would be - easily - in the top five (at least) of any such list, of this he was certain. He had the honed athletic body of the fully-trained professional darts-player, allied to the keen-eye of the underpaid and resentful private security guard, and his mental agility was easily...

Before there was Superman or Batman, and way before the X-Men or Spider-Man, there was Zorro. The 1920 classic The Mark of Zorro turned Denver-born Douglas Fairbanks into the first action movie star and arguably cast the mold for every masked avenger who followed. "Douglas Fairbanks wa...
