Prize’s Strange World Of Your Dreams was an interesting twist on the horror comic premise, as many of the stories were purportedly based upon dreams sent in by actual readers. A reassuring figure - namely a Caucasian male smoking a pipe - would “analyze” the dream at the story’s conclusion and send every one off [...]

The Keeper must do a better job of keeping his calendar organized. First, we were a day late in celebrating the anniversary of Jack Kirby’s birth. Now it turns out we also missed the birthdays of two all-time greats: Gene Colan and Walt Simonson. Well, today your forgetful host will remedy part of the problem by once [...]

The Keeper could expound at length how Kamandi, New Gods and reprints of Silver Age Fantastic Four, Mighty Thor and Captain America adventures boggled [...]

Sometimes I like this diary to do impersonations of a normal blog. If only to get some of the internetty things I like out of my system. So… This is my favourite comic book cover of the moment, even if Mr Barack’s tie is too short: (via the New York Times). I like it almost as much as this [...]

Like pancakes and maple syrup, the two subjects of Paul Buhle’s JEWS AND AMERICAN COMICS: AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF AN AMERICAN ART FORM are inexorably linked. Without one, we might not have the other. It’s something I never noticed before, but it’s true, and through words and pictures, Buhle traces their entire history together. Arranged in [...]
