The Boondocks, Season 3 Screen Shots Aaron McGruder has been posting screenshots from Season 3 of The Boondocks (although I’m not seeing any word on when it will premiere)… check these out: And what I wouldn’t give to be in possession of this: bookmark to,:
Oscar-nominated actor Don Cheadle and The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder have teamed up for a comedy series for NBC, according to Variety. Both will serve as executive producers, and McGruder will write the script. The sitcom is about “mismatched brothers who reunite to open a private security company.” And that’s all I’ve read and heard about the project. Of [...]
The oddest thing about the Somali pirate story that grabbed our attention for a few days earlier this year is that no one has bothered to make a movie about it, but that's about to change. It seems that Billy Ray has been hired to pen the story of captain Richard Phillips, who was held hostage by Somali pirates until Barack Obama gave the order for some rather badass snipers to give them three shots...
Brazillionaires: Anne Hathaway and Neil Patrick Harris will lend their screechy and droll voices, respectively, to Rio , a 3D animation flick set to be released in 2011. The film is about a bored macaw who flees the coop in Minnesota and takes off to the Olympic city of Rio de Janiero. Can't wait to see NPH's killer Carmen Miranda. [ THR ] Better than Leno: You may not think of Don Cheadle as funny...
Los Angeles: Half-hour comedies find home at Peacock -- NBC is looking to stock up on laffs, cutting deals for a half-hour comedy starring Adam Carolla, a laffer from "The Simpsons" alum Bill Oakley and a project from Don Cheadle and "Boondocks" creator Aaron McGruder.
Darth Sidious will be one of the figures in wave 8 of the Clone Wars action figures, available in early 2010. You can see the other figures in the set here . Anyone know who sculpted the figure? And a few more links: 1. Chris Lee, writing for the LA Times, describes the unusual process Wes Anderson used to direct Fantastic Mr. Fox: Moreover, Anderson had no idea that his ignorance of stop-motion (the...
Not a pure response to this , since my working definition of "of the decade" is more flexible. Though the Brits are overrepresented (too much reading of the Guardian) my list is more internationalist than the Millions list, plus I like some picture books a lot. Comics aside, there's very little genre fiction on the list: I find it hard to work out what's worth reading, as recommendations,...
It has been speculated that the cryptic: "All your O are belong to US" message tweeted by google may signal their intention to purchase Oprah. We must prevent this at all costs. If google were to obtain Oprah, they would indeed become all powerful and swallow up the earth. Indeed, google and Oprah must never occupy the same space as it would create a source of power capable of splitting the...
Aaron McGruder is a genius. I find his comedy sublime, insightful and extremely funny. I particularly enjoyed the episodes related to Oprah, MLK, and R. Kelly. It is my sincerest hope that he continues to pursue his art.
( These are actual Twitter posts from earlier today. ) Aaron McGruder: “Seriously... too many gay-ass rappers pretending to be straight . If you say ’no-homo’ in a song at least make it sound convincing.” Russell Simmons: “Workin on phone and being driven in from hamptons, old school radio just played ’big ole butt’ by ll cool jay today he's my favorite nigga!!”...
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is not repeat *not* repeat *NOT* a reconstruction-era southern lament. "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is a song written in 1969 by a Canadian--never mind that Ralph J. Gleason (in the review in Rolling Stone (US edition only) of October 1969) wrote "the rhythmic structure, the voice of Levon and the bass line with the drum accents...
If we were to carve a Mount Rushmore in honor of cartoonists who brought hipness to the funny pages... there’d be no debate about which four. Garry Trudeau. Berkeley Breathed . Bill Watterson. Aaron McGruder. Trudeau revolutionized comic strips during the 1970s with “Doonesbury.” The ’90s belonged to Watterson’s “Calvin and Hobbes.” In this decade, McGruder’s...
Yep, Bill Cosby is really on Twitter . And yesterday he posted a few tweets regarding Skip Gates and President Obama. (Read from the bottom up.) UPDATE (07/25/09): “Boondocks” creator Aaron McGruder joined Twitter two weeks ago... and he also tweeted yesterday about the Skip Gates affair: “I don't know why Henry Louis Gates being arrested is so funny to me. Probably because I am no...
Here's a tough equation for a promotions department: A black cartoon character + A white voice actor + Poorly researched premise = POSSIBLE RATINGS DISASTER This fall, Fox plans to premiere "The Cleveland Show" - one of the first cartoon series with a predominantly African-American cast. (Currently, the most popular one of that kind is Aaron McGruder's "The Boondocks") Yet message...
