It's hard to believe, but once upon a time, Star Wars was essentially dead intellectual property. There had only been three movies (and various forgettable comics, novels, and radio plays), and we'd only seen three people who knew how to use a lightsaber. Along came Timothy Zahn and his Thrawn Trilogy, which reignited the franchise, adding Thrawn, Mara Jade, and Joruus C'baoth to the Star Wars universe....

here...Cinefools talked to Bill Birch about his efforts on the SHAZAM! movie script, currently being developed for director Peter Segal (GET SMART, NAKED GUN 33 1/3, THE LONGEST YARD). Bill, who's been working with to break a story for the film, is the latest in an impressive parade of screenwriters brought in to take a crack at bringing this concept to the screen (past scripters include William Goldman,...

So who’s confident to see the Captain Marvel movie finally get made? At least it’s been heading to us under the same director, Pete Segal, for about 3 years so that’s a good sign, right? Clark Kent says: I feel the same way about Captain Marvel… Shazam… whatever… like I do about Superman. Boo status. More [...]

So who's confident to see the Captain Marvel movie finally get made? At least it's been heading to us under the same director, Pete Segal, for about 3 years so that's a good sign, right? Scribe Bill Birch also sounds confident his treatment written in partnership with Geoff Johns will make the grade. Or at least it'll be his own thing, since he mentions disregarding every previous treatment made for...

By: John Gholson Screenwriter John August declared the Shazam feature film completely dead in January 2009, unable to come up with a screenplay that seemed to satisfy Warner Bros. "By "dead," I mean that it won't be happening. I don't think it's on the studio's radar at all, " August stated in a blog post . I'm happy to report that John August was wrong. Shazam is most definitely...

Lost creator and Star Trek helmer J.J. Abrams is in discussions to produce and perhaps direct a film based on the Japanese toyline Micronauts. Created in 1974 by Takara, the Microman figures were imported to the U.S. from 1976-1980 by Mego and marketed as Micronauts. In 2002 Palisades marketing revived the Micronauts toy line, which [...] Related posts: J.J. Abrams Talks Star Trek J.J. Abrams Working...

It only takes about five months for a project to completely fall apart. Back in June we reported that Robert Rodriguez was aiming to shoot his live-action Jetsons movie sometime next year. Rodriguez has a lot on his plate and is obviously still producing both Machete (which is in post-production) and Predators (which is currently shooting), but most of his projects have fallen apart, including his...

You kids today, with your Marvel Studios and your top-notch directors. Many of you are too young to remember just what ugly treatments comic books received in the 1980s and 1990s. Oh sure, there was Tim Burton's Batman , but treatments like David Hasselhoff's Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD were the norm. When a Thor movie was kicked around, the only requirement was muscles and blonde hair. In the 1990s,...

Shazam! Check out this snazzy seating option from the lovely Ms. Uroquiola. While perhaps the thinner cushioning seems to be more fit for an office or reception area sofa than a jump/sink/settle-in-to-watch-a-movie-type sofa, the lines and style are spectacular. Hollow is a modular compact seating collection for reception, lounge and meeting applications. The concave plastic [...]
