I have to admit, even though the great Guillermo del Toro was behind this production, I wasn’t expecting all too much in this follow-up to the original film, mostly because I’d heard that this one was gonna be concentrating more on monsters and the fantasy angle, two elements that don’t really crank my woody, but once again Mr. del Toro schooled my fanboy ass, as the film not only surpassed the original...

Yes, THE DARK KNIGHT might’ve been the biggest money making movie of the summer, but HELLBOY 2 deserved a lot more than what it got, so if you haven’t seen it yet, make an effort to check it out as this movie kicks major ass!!!"

A fabulous feast for the eyes and heart. Del Toro's creature feature surprises at every turn. Visually it is a romp through the so many 'what ifs' of cultural references that the audience are dizzy with the fizzy imagination of the director of Pan's Labyrinth. Never will the apparently innocuous 'tooth fairy' remain neutral. These creatures are animated denture vultures. The early scene which is suggestive...

Following the success of the 2004 film Hellboy, Guillermo del Toro returns with the thoroughly awesome, entertaining and visually inventive, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Prince Nuada, the Elf Prince of the Underworld, is determined to end the truce between humans and denizens of the underworld headed by an army of indestructible golden warriors. Hellboy, his flame wielding girlfriend Liz Sherman and...

I really was blown away by Hellboy II: The Golden Army (review). It was just what I had hoped it would be.. a real epic film with some of director Guillermo del Toro's amazing creature designs thrown in. A real perfect summer flick that also had substance as well. It was fun and not taken to seriously like another insanely popular comic book hero flick that came out this year. DVD Active has learned...

THE critical acclaim and adulation surrounding Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth should be enough to ensure that Hellboy 2: The Golden Army attracts an impressive legion of followers. In many ways, this is the more crowd-pleasing experience, adhering as it does to certain blockbuster/comic book requirements. It’s not as good as Pan’s Labyrinth but it does provide a suitably jaw-dropping showcase...

I can barely remember a thing about the first Hellboy film, other than I wasn't that interested in it. I didn't think it was bad, just not great. So I'm not sure if this story is a follow on from the original or not. We're introduced to elves who live underground, and their prince is sick of it and is trying to use powers from long ago to summon the golden army (huge gold indestructible robots) to...

Last night to one of the special Hellboy 2 previews. I am not sure how we got tickets or found out about it, I just turned up at the right time. I expected the (very small) cinema screen to be choc-a-block, but it was actually quite empty. The people of Thurrock really don't care about going to see films other than The Dark Knight at the moment. So I must confess I am not the biggest Hellboy fan,...
