No doubt, many viewers are going to be comparing "Red Cliff" - director John Woo's sword-and-silk spectacular based on an epic battle that took place in southern China in 208 A.D. - to "300," Zack Snyder's high-tech reimagining of the infamous tussle at Thermoplyae in ancient Greece.

It's been quite awhile since we heard about Zack Snyder's forthcoming adaptation of the children's book series Guardians of Ga'hoole. After the project was announced in early 2008, there was some minor casting news way back at the beginning of this year, but development has been pretty mute since then. Now THR's Heat Vision adds a whole bunch of new cast members who will lend their voice to the 3D...

The story of the Battle of Thermopylae (literally ‘the hot gates’) is a classic tale of courage. It has recently been dramatized and brought to the wider attention of a modern audience in Zack Snyder’s film ‘300’ based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller. While it is obvious that the film (and the novel) is highly stylized, any film that strives to bring to life the great...

By the early '90s, director John Woo had firmly established himself as one of the top directors in Hong Kong before coming to Hollywood and doing the same with a number of action blockbusters. In the back of his mind, he had wanted to make a movie based on the legendary 208 AD Battle of Red Cliff in which an alliance between two Southern Chinese warlords organized by the warrior Zhou Yu (Tony Leung)...

Frank Miller entered the Hollywood spotlights when people started turning his graphic novels into films. Sin City and 300 were great successes, but now Miller himself is taking place behind the camera. To remake one of his own comics? Nah, too obvious. Miller is taking one of Eisner's and tries to make it his own. Whether to say he succeeded is not an easy task. People will tell you The Spirit is...

Even if you're a detractor of Zack Snyder's 300 (and I understand why the film has them), you have to agree that its style was what made it special. It was lovely to look at, it was simultaneously a Frank Miller panel and an ancient Greek sculpture, and duplicating it really misses the point. Of course, Hollywood believes that if it's worth doing once to the tune of millions of dollars, it's worth...

Fox to Re-tell the Story of Moses… 300-Style : 300 just had buckets of blood. Moses will have a river of it! This could be awesome. However, Zack Snyder’s not directing this time (nor is he writing), so this could be terrible. meh. We’ll see.

The same writing team hired to make a graphic-novel style, adventurous take on Moby Dick for Timur Bekmambetov and Universal have sold a pitch to Fox that would see them re-telling the story of Moses in the style of Zack Snyder's 300. Yep, Moses will soon be using the stone tablets bearing God's laws to knock heads in at a theatre near you. The Bear Jew? Guy's a pussy compared to this Moses. Variety...

Before our generation comes to a close, all of ancient history and mythology will have been filmed through a Zack Snyder / Frank Miller lens. Variety reports that the next ancient text to get the green-screened sepia treatment is the tale of Moses. It looks like Hollywood is all out of books to adapt, because now they're looking to adapt stories from the book. That's right, the world's best-selling book of all time, the Holy Bible, is headed to the big screen in a big way. Or at least a part of it will end up there as Variety reports that former News Corp. president Peter Chernin will take on his "first significant film project acquisition"...

Gerard Butler hasn't completely closed the door on another 300 movie - although he says he's not sure it would ever happen - but he and Frank Miller might be reconnecting on something else in the future. Butler told MTV's Splashpage that he and the 300 and Sin City author have discussed another possible sequel. "At one point, he talked to me about one of the Sin City [movies]," Butler confirmed....
