In a couple of excellent and typically well put together pieces here and here, mr Porretto describes the PDOOMA factor of Gloebull Warmening. What he brushes up against but doesn’t expound too heavily on is the phenomena I like to refer to as “Persistence of Ignorance” Here’s a classic example. In the 1980’s, a bunch of [...]

Over the last week we have been putting up videos from our interviews from the Star Trek DVD party. The Jimmy Kimmel show also sent their friend Yehya to cover the event, and last week they ran a 6 minute segment with interview snippets with Bruce Greenwood, Jacob Kogan, Leonard Nimoy, JJ Abrams, John Cho, [...]
William Shatner did have a part in the new Star Trek as it turns out. It wasn't a major role like Leonard Nimoy's, but rather a recording that Nimoy's Spock would give to the younger Spock at the end of the film. It obviously never made the film but I somewhat wish it had.

EDIT: When I originally ran this an hour ago, I completely forgot that we'd basically presented this before, a point which the first comments were quick to point out. (It's not the end of the world, guys, really.) But there is new content here -- this is the first time we've been able to link to the actual scripted scene, rather than just a description. If that's bait enough for you, then by all means...
When I was a kid there was a program, a wildly popular documentary program, called In Search Of.... Narrated by Leonard Nimoy it offered viewers the chance to explore all sorts of speculative and paranormal phenomena. Bigfoot, Nessie, UFOs, disturbing disappearances, all got the sonorously serious treatment sending school kids back to the playground week after week to debate and opine. This is also...
