Schroeter's three-hour epic won the Golden Bear at the 1980 Berlin International Film Festival. In addition to Palermo or Wolfsburg , Facets will release through Polart Tadeusz Konwicki's Salto , which...

"New York, I Love You," the second in an intended series of omnibus films called "Cities of Love," is a collection of 11 shorts and one wrap-around segment, each directed by a different filmmaker in two days. The connective tissue is that every story weaves the backdrop of New York City into some sort of anecdote dealing with love.

The rules: No more than two days' shooting time. One week of editing. An 8-minute time limit. Ten directors, and one more to consider the 10 short films and create transitions. "New York, I Love You" is the second installment in an ambitious project that began with "Paris, Je T'aime" (2006), an anthology with 13 directors.

Billed as a "collective feature film," New York, I Love You is the second in the "Cities of Love" series, an idea that has so far proved better in theory than execution. As with its predecessor, Paris Je T'Aime , there are hits and misses. Producer Emmanuel Benbihy decreed that each ...

The positive reviews outnumber the negative as of this writing, but it’s fair to say critics are divided. For me it’s largely critic proof. Jonze is clearly taking some [...]
