" The mystery surrounding Christopher Nolan's upcoming thriller Inception has been extremely hard to penetrate. Along with the earlier trailer revelation that it contains airborne hallway battles, there's the photographic "reveal" this weekend that the movie will feature a sharply dressed Leonardo DiCaprio sitting dangerously on a window sill. In addition, Nolan favorite Michael Caine...
What follows is my original top ten list of 2000 ... or rather the revised version I published in 2002. Let's discuss each year of this decade as it winds down! Who's with me?!? It's always interesting to see which films remained at the forefront of our memory and which fade... both for a variety of reasons, quality being only one factor. New comments are in red . Runners Up (in descending order):...
By Pat Remick There were two "fun" things on my list of 2009 goals: seeing a moose in the wild and meeting author Dennis Lehane. I figured that fulfilling either would be fascinating – and I was correct. I met goal No. 1 in June when, using the “but it’s my birthday” excuse, I dragged Husband No. 1 and Son No. 2 to northern New Hampshire to find not one, but four,...
The Brothers Bloom are the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now they've decided to take on one last job - showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world.
CAUTION: The following trailer contains some scary situations. I was going to post this earlier, but now that there's only one more day until Halloween, I thought now the time was right. Shutter Island tells the story of two U.S. Marshals (played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo) who are called to a mysterious island housing a mental hospital where a murderess has gone missing. The colors and...

The newest trailer for Martin Scorcese's upcoming thriller Shutter Island sure to be one of next year's big buzz movies has been released on the internet.
Here’s the new trailer for Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest movie, “Shutter Island“. Also starring Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Max von Sydow, Jackie Earle Hale and Emily Mortimer. Shutter Island Synopsis: It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Shutter Island’s Ashecliffe...
No, this new Shutter Island trailer doesn't feature Jarvis Cocker. What it does do is recut much of the footage we've already seen with a bit of new stuff, and the overall effect is: "hey, remember me? Haven't come out yet! See you in February." What this trailer does have, and really the reason I'm posting it, is a real deep spirit of lurid pulp appeal. I've been interested in seeing Shutter...
Another new trailer for Shutter Island has appeared online, and this one gives a very dark and scary look into the film. This one would make you think it's the closest that Martin Scorsese has come to horror yet, the opening certainly gave me a scare early this morning with the volume up. The film is adapted from the Dennis Lehane novel (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark...
Where the Wild Things Are star Mark Ruffalo, out running errands in Beverly Hills yesterday. LOVE HIM! Such husband material, right? I could happily fall into his arms at the end of a long day. (via Lainey Gossip )
The Brothers Bloom is the second feature film from writer/director Rian Johnson. His first, the high school film noir cult classic, Brick, revealed a promising filmmaker with a fluent style and a knack for writing interesting and unique characters. Brick was a critical success and found an audience on DVD. Because of this, Johnson’s follow-up [...]
