Last night I watched Billy Wilder’s Sunset Boulevard (1950), with William Holden and Gloria Swanson (and a very young Jack Webb in a bit part). Excellent movie, with two things that leapt out at me. First was the bridge game that Norma Desmond plays with her old friends from the days of silent film. What was [...]

The Best and Bust of the 2008 Emmy Awards What’s wrong with the picture? Holly Hunter must have been trapped in a time travel - it’s 2008 missy, not 1980. Tamara Mellon wears a cobalt blue one-shoulder dress with strappy canary yellow shoes (!?) and zebra print clutch. Make up your mind lady, what was [...]

Bold solid colors and one-shoulder dresses were the rage at last nights Primetime Emmy Awards. Most everyone looked lovely but there were a few stunning gowns and actresses that stood out, and a few atrociously-dressed actresses who stuck out. Fashion is subjective, and while I generally found these outfits to be the best you may [...]
