Read this article on the community site When one mentions SPARROW, I thing of: EDITH PIAF - The Little Sparrow Anyone familiar with the 1940's, when overhearing a conversation between elderly people, knows when the topic is "The Little Sparrow" these people are discussing Edith Piaf. I was first introduced, at the age of 15, in 1957, to Piaf by my friends mother who was a German lady that had married...
CD REVIEW Tara Linda & Luna Nueva - New Moon self-released You have to be intrigued by a musician who cites as influences PJ Harvey, Danny Elfman, Lydia Mendoza, The Pixies, and Edith Piaf. Who evolved from punk drumming to singing torch songs and rancheras. And who performs with a group called The Blue Fur Monkeys in addition to the Tex-Mex group Luna Negra heard on this album. "IF you live long enough and manage to stay out of jail, you may be lucky enough one day to receive one of these," Edith Piaf's legendary producer, George Avakian, humbly admitted at his investiture as a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters...
A slice of Parisian pomp in the centre of London proffered by an American may seem somewhat incongruous, but with Marc Jacobs' ever-changing collections for Louis Vuitton, the only thing to expect is the unexpected. Edith Piaf trickled from speakers to set the mood for Jacobs' spring celebration of French... [ more ]
Having lived in France during much of Edith Piaf's last rise to fame I found Marion Coutollard's reprise of Mome astoundingly accurate. Marion deserves...
'A unique, unknown voice, another left turn in an already surreal variety act, getting the best sutdio and production in the world, and all the world as a stage. Once described als if Edith Piaf walked in to the Star Wars bar at Mos Eisley spaceport, Pigalle left ZTT after her first album, headed to LA to work in film, and lives and works in London as a singer, performer and an artist.' This mini-bio...

From the archive: October 14 1963: Some eighty thousand Parisians of all classes are reckoned to have walked past the coffin of Edith Piaf yesterday afternoon and today
The life of Edith Piaf is breathtaking, and Marion Cotillard does a very good role in this version of Piaf's life. Moreover, Piaf's powerful music contributes a very good soundtrack to the movie. So how come I'm not satisfied? I can't really say for sure. The movie is long, but Piaf's life is strong enough for 140 minutes. I do not, however, like the director's choice of jumping forwards and backwards...
