NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Ross Stores Inc. said Thursday that third-quarter earnings were $105 million, or 84 cents a share, compared to $57 million, or 44 cents a share, in the same period a year ago. Sales rose 12% to $1.74 billion from $1.56 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet Research estimated, on average, earnings per share of 78 cents and sales of $1.74 billion.
