NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Power company Mirant Corp. said Friday that it saw its third quarter net income rise to $1.6 billion, or $8.69 a share, compared to $775 million or $2.74 a share in the year-ago period. However, adjusted net income fell to $216 million, or $1.17 a share, from $323 million, or $1.14 a share in the third quarter of 2007. Mirant also announced a $200 million stock buyback program....
