There is so much to talk about with Twilight , the adaptation of the Stephenie Meyer novel that has sunken its fangs into so many young readers. There is the literary angle – how does the film compare to the book? There are the stunning locations in Portland, Oregon (standing in for Forks, Washington) that play host to the romance between high school student Bella (Kristen Stewart) and her vampire...

Hello there. Does anyone actually read this shit? I'm guessing not, but I'm fucking bored so I'm writing this to entertain myself. Can't believe it's been 3 months since I updated this blog. Mainly through lack of motivation and a fucking crap 1992-style internet connection, I hasten to add. So what's been happening in my life? Well, I've moved away from Portsmouth - which is good. I fucking hate that...

The Illegal Soapbox Derby race was to be held in San Francisco over Halloween weekend, and four- time DOTS honoree WhatWouldJesseDo needed a driver's seat for his race car. Once the mandatory beer holder and ought-to-be-mandatory chain steering wheel were installed, he mentioned to me that he was thinking of using a lawn chair as a seat. Lawn chair? As some of you may know, those who follow my scribblings on Facebook and twitter at least, we have been filling a skip this weekend. It arrived Friday whilst we were at work and so when we came home we sorted out the garden stuff, including a couple of tyres off my first Volvo. To Milan, for a curious challenge in which I attempt to drive a Volvo all the way back to Marlow on a single tank of diesel. It is all very Top Gear, on a far smaller budget – just me, the comedian Rufus Hound and a South African cameraman who has never been to Europe before. There was a little pre-chat from some technical boffin who went on about torque and revs and stuff that I'm not much...

Want a great analogy to the inevitable fate of government-run health care? Look no further than the American automakers. At the beginning of the week, analysts and ordinary Americans alike were shocked to discover that Ford Motor Company, the only American automaker which did not take federal bailout cash, reported a profit of $997 million during the third quarter. Sure, if you look at how government...

Am sure I am getting Hot flushes as I run around town on my Saturday morning shop, god the things we girls have to put up with!. So the battery appears knackered on the Volvo ( turns out somebody left a courtesy light on) so I pop over to the lovely chaps at Halfords , some vacuous child behind the till informs me that I will need to invest the tidy fortune of £104.95 for the pleasure of their...
