A war veteran adrift

News has not been kind to Gordon Brown this week. John Prescott “frustrating, annoying, bewildering and prickly” with sulks that would cancel meetings and volcanic temper tantrums. He also claims Mr Brown held money back for his own premiership. Furthermore, Ed Balls was one of the "Gordon group, running around, spreading stories" Cherie Blair accused him of “rattling the keys above [Tony Blair's]...

Prescott's Memoirs - “scared” Blair reneged on Brown

Home Comment at end 11th May, 2008 PRESCOTT CAN TELL TALES TOO! SO THERE, CHERIE! According to tomorrow’s Sunday Times John Prescott is spilling the beans in his memoirs too! It seems he is claiming that Tony Blair reneged on “his agreement” to hand over to Gordon Brown “several times”! And that he, Prescott urged Blair to sack Brown! And that Blair [...]

Blair scared of Brown says Prescott

John Prescott apparently urged Tony Blair to sack Gordon Brown but he claims the prime minister was "scared" of his chancellor. This is what Prescott says in his memoirs. Amazing these New Labour people. All making money, or trying to, faster than a one-armed bandit. The former deputy prime minister said Mr Blair reneged on several promises to resign in favour of Mr Brown. So it was true. No wonder...

Another Sour Sunday for Gordon Brown.

The first thing Gordon Brown will think when he wakes up this morning will be: "today can't be as bad as last Sunday". He will be wrong, today will be one hell of a sour Sunday. First of all he will read about John Prescott claiming that he urged Tony Blair to sack him. Then he will read about the ICM survey for the Mail on Sunday which puts the Tories on 43%, Labour on 39% and the Liberal Democrats...

Post-election silver lining… a move to the left

Following Labour’s disastrous showing in last week’s local and London mayoral elections, the Tories have every right to gloat. For Labour, it's bitching season with confessionals from people with books to sell like Cherie Blair, Lord Levy and, much more surprisingly, John Prescott who, until now, I’ve had a lot of time for. While it's clear [...]

Put Your Career Where Your Mouth Is

Gordon Brown has "tempers of an indescribable nature" according to the rebel backbencher Frank Field, who has become the first Labour MP to predict that the Prime Minister will not be in place at the next election. If Frank Field does manage to oust Brown, then he should run for the leadership himself. He's the only man who would ever even try to get me to slide towards his party. If Sam Tarran Was...

Field and Brown set to fight to the death.

This quote from Ed Balls effectively states that Brown will not back down over the 10p tax debacle, he will only compromise. Yet Frank Field has already insisted that he wants everyone affected to be compensated. Mr Balls said he was convinced Mr Field would now reject attempts by the Prime Minister and Chancellor Alistair Darling to hammer out a compromise over the explosive 10p tax issue. "I think...
