We’ve worked with the guys at Sassy & Co in High Wycombe for ages now, providing images of their handywork for all sorts of uses from their website through to competitions and ads. We shot most of the session up at the old mausoleum in West Wycombe which was a new venue for us but one [...]

OK so this post is just a bit of a moan. Just very occasionally I feel that, as an industry, we sadly live up to our own stereotype – and consequently let ourselves down. And there’s no need for it. I shot a job up in London the other day for one of the UK [...]

Its not easy trying to do something different with this wheel as you can see on Flickr . Every angle is being snapped. So far I haven’t seen a b&w shot so here we go. Oh and don’t worry, the wheel isn’t as fast as it appears. - via www.vanilladays.com RSS feed (c) 2008 Pete Carr -

I’ve got some work in an exhibition opening this week. The exhibition is called “Building Merseyside” by Dot-Art. There’s a private view on Thursday 6-8pm and you have to book a ticket to come along . I have 3 photos in it which have been taken recently. One’s a bit of a cliche but really fits the theme of “Building Merseyside” and is a pretty darn good photo...

I've had a great few days at the Gulf Photo Plus Fotoweekend , and did find a bit of time to take some shots during my landscape workshop out in the desert. I have another three that I'll be putting up, but think that this one may well be my favourite. And I would write more, but have another class to give in an hour or so, so will tell you more about my trip when I post my next entry. In the meanwhile,...

So then, BERG London does it, Bonnier R&D does it, Tinker.it are doing it, Phil Gyford too: the semi-public review of a company’s week seems a very good idea. I may just be talking to myself, but it’s helpful. Since stepping down from full-time duties at WIRED – I remain Editor At Large – I’ve been [...]

Liverpool Lantern Company really put on a great show last night in town. Girls with light up brollies, a Snow Queen, and all sorts. Really a visual treat. It signals the start of Xmas in town. Every Thursday there will be street entertainers out from 5-8pm. The Xmas Market opens in a couple of weeks and town is now twinkling with lots of Xmas lights. 50mm heaven. In other news a book I’ve contributed...

I’ve been trying to think of what to shoot for the latest round of the Amateur Photographer competition and thought a dusk shot of the pier might do the trick. So, I went down on Saturday afternoon, just before sunset. The wind was blowing a gale, so I had to really lean on the tripod [...]

A rather foggy morning. I took this last Monday and it was quite eery. You could only see the tops of the wind turbines over the layer of fog. - via www.vanilladays.com RSS feed (c) 2008 Pete Carr -

Very tricky lighting. I’ve got loads of shots that need just a tiny bit more lighting here and there to make them, but alas no joy. - via www.vanilladays.com RSS feed (c) 2008 Pete Carr -

If you’re a photographer you’ve heard of Yervant. If you’re not a photographer, you’ll still know his images. This is one of the world’s true ‘heavyweight’ (in a creative sense of course) photographers. And he was in London as guests of our album supplier, Graphistudio. Martin Baynes (who’s an old friend of ours [...]
