Went to the Pop Life exhibition at Tate Modern today, which included a recreation of Keith Haring's Pop Shop , complete with awesome 80s rap soundtrack. The room included a tee-shirt with this visual on it: choreographer Bill T. Jones body painted by Haring. Pretty strong! (Photograph by Tseng Kwong Chi )

Caught a gallery opening over in Shoreditch tonight, featuring works from folks such as Swoon, Banksy, Blek Le Rat, and plenty of others. Very nice. Medium term readers of this blog will know that I was a "toy" tagger back in the mid 1970s in Washington Heights, and much later would trade nods with Keith Haring (whom I stand around watching while he did his chalk art in empty ad places in...

St. Louis has tried everything to invigorate its urban core: Revitalizing its riverfront entertainment district, luring residents downtown with converted-warehouse lofts, a new baseball stadium. "The image - which looked like a strange mix of African art and Keith Haring - was a page from Carl Jung's long-discussed but only recently published Red Book, a richly illustrated diary that captured Jung's 'confrontation with the unconscious'." Screenwriter Charlie Kaufman looks at the picture and free-associates....

I suppose it could just be that more cool things tend to happen in entertainment at the end of the year, but for the third time in a row I received the final copy of one of my magazine subscriptions that I wasn't planning to renew (for general lack of interest) only to find it to be the most wonderful issue I've seen in ages. This time around it's INTERVIEW , which happens to be the 40th anniversary...

Brando has moved on from sniffing the boxes that arrived from Pennsylvania a little over a week ago. Now he has simply taken possession of an old blanket that I'd used in packing some of the items. Wherever the blanket is, Brando plants himself on top of it and refuses to move, which makes me wish I'd taken more from my parents' house before today's auction. I've been pouring over the items that will...

A few years later came bomber jackets with knit cuffs to keep the breeze from creeping up the arms of wartime pilots. It's doubtful that the company's founders, the late brothers Irving and...
