ex Caerphilly double deck bus returns home

On Friday the 11th July we will bring an old Double deck bus back home, After 23 years this bus has been kept up in Scotland. It was new to Caerphilly Urban District Council in 1966. Just before deregulation in the mid 80's The then, Rhymney Valley District Council sold her to Jim Doig of Dumfries Scotland. over the last 23 years that Jim has owned this bus, Jim has kept her in pristine condition. I have been negotiating the return of this bus for the last 10 years. Now the time has come. We will go up next Thursday and bring her home on Friday. We have kind permission from Caerphilly County Borough Council to store this bus in a secure undercover compound in Ystrad Mynach,

It is anticipated that the bus will arrive at 4 PM on Friday, Where the ex manager of former bus company CUDC/RVDC. Mr Haydn Williams, Councillors and local press etc will be there to meet and receive the bus.

The bus is LNY 536D a 1966 Leyland PD2/36   see attached.

I am John Evans chairman of a local preservation group with aims of opening Wales first working transport museum here in the valleys.
